Woman arrested for firing outside Rihanna’s home in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, California: Los Angeles police arrested a woman who fired gunshots outside Rihanna's gated home, according to authorities and news reports on March 9.

While no one was injured, reports were unclear whether the singer was at home when the shooting happened on the afternoon of March 8.

Police received a report of gunshots around 1:15 p.m. in the Beverly Hills area, according to Officer Charles Miller. A 35-year-old woman was later arrested, and investigators found a weapon, police said. She was booked on suspicion of attempted murder and is being held in jail on US$10 million bail. The district attorney has not yet filed formal charges.

Miller did not say who lives in the house. However, several local news outlets reported that the property belongs to singer Rihanna. Public records show the home is owned by a trust managed by Evan Jehle, who serves on the advisory board of Rihanna's charity, the Clara Lionel Foundation.

Requests for comment were sent to Rihanna's publicist and manager.

TV station KABC-TV showed video that appeared to show five bullet holes in the front gate of the home.

According to police radio audio obtained by KABC-TV, a dispatcher told officers that a shooting had just happened and about 10 gunshots were fired from a vehicle. Police said the shots were fired from across the street.

It is not yet known whether the woman arrested is connected to Rihanna.

In 2018, a man was accused of breaking into another home owned by Rihanna in the Hollywood Hills and staying there for about 12 hours. In 2019, he pleaded no contest to felony stalking and vandalism charges, as well as a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest. He was given probation.

Rihanna, a nine-time Grammy Award winner, has had 14 No. 1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, including "We Found Love," "Work," "Umbrella," and "Disturbia." She also launched the cosmetics company Fenty Beauty in 2017.

She and rapper A$AP Rocky announced the birth of their third child, a daughter named Rocki Irish Mayers, in September.
